I am a new business starting up and I am looking to collaberate with local/British carpenters/furniture designers/home accessory designers to create free standing furniture/tableware/home accessories on a Sale or Return basis or profit% arrangement. 

A little about my business: 

My business is to open a Home Boutique store in Bristol, supporting local/British tradesman, I am looking to supply furniture, tableware and accessories for the home. The market I am aiming at is mid-high end, high quality, luxury, and classic homeware. 
I have over 8 years experience within retail and I am now ready to take on the retail world myself.

After I have a wide range of tradesmen who wish to go ahead I will be opening up a display pop-up-shop in Bristol, this will mean I would like one item per product for display and will order in sales from interest. 
Therefore the tradesmen who want to collaborate on design or/and sell current designs to me would have to commit to a Sale or Return basis, for one item per product only or we can come to an arrangement for profit% on sales, you will also have to commit for demand on orders. (Please make me aware of turn around). 

The market I would like to stock is modern, yet classic pieces and excellent quality.

Working as part of a team, you will have the opportunity to carry your visual ideas from concept right through to execution in print and packaging for the UK magazine and US magazine, in digital editions and online. You'll design page layouts ensuring that they flow visually and be involved in image selection, liaising with freelance designers, and assisting at photo shoots.

Deputy Art Editor - SFX

Are you a magazine Designer or Deputy Art Editor looking for a new challenge? Do you want the rare opportunity to work in a design role on the world's number one science fiction magazine? Future, an award-winning international media group and leading digital business, are looking for a talented Deputy Art Editor to join the SFX editorial team on a maternity cover contract.

Working alongside the Art Editor, you will design and produce high quality print and digital editions of SFX. In this creative and innovative role, you'll ensure that magazine designs are focused, consistent, fit for purpose, target the audience and are created on time to deadlines. You'll be involved in print and digital page layout, image selection, and collaborate with film and TV companies to secure stunning photography for features. You'll also commission creative illustrators and photographers and have freedom to express your creativity across the magazine.

You should be passionate about magazines both print and digital, and be able to demonstrate an appreciation of contemporary magazine design. You'll have experience as a Designer or Deputy Art Editor on a newsstand magazine. A strong portfolio of work demonstrating a range of magazine layouts is essential. You'll have an eye for image selection and have excellent InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop skills. You'll have experience commissioning photographers and illustrators and have a proven ability to work quickly and accurately to regular deadlines. Preferably you'll have an interest in science fiction and fantasy.

Tall Tales - Call for Artists, Designers and Writers for Fringe Arts Bath 2014

Do you want to put your fiction on the walls?

Tall Tales is looking for Artists, Designers and Writers who would like to create work directly on the wall for Fringe Arts Bath 2014. Bath's annual art festival will run from 23rd May - 8th June this year.

This show will take the form of temporary works applied directly to the exhibition walls. The space itself as a canvas to work on. The works will spill, climb and overlap - the artists working with the theme of 'Tall Tales'. Each artist will have their own space as well as areas to overlap and work in response to each other.

We are looking for a fantastic, enthusiastic Designer to join our lovely client in Cheltenham, on a contract basis to be renewed every 3 months.

Our client is a large name in the retail sector, specialising in the beauty and lifestyle sector.

The successful applicant will work alongside 3 existing designers developing initial concepts, creative design, artwork, copywriting & act in a production role to source elements needed to for print, photography & DVD production.

This would include packing, POS, instructional & promotion literature. You will need to be fully conversant with the Adobe Creative Suite.

Additionally you will get the opportunity to participate in the research & development of new beauty & lifestyle products.

This is a really great role for a Designer with previous experience to join a forward thinking organisation to really make a difference to the team and the work they are producing. 

They are in a beautiful office in central Cheltenahm, commutable from Swindon, Bristol, Cheltenham, Oxford, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.

Artist, Designer or Collective wanted for interactive commission

Traces is a new concept in showcasing the very best art and design; an exciting immersive public event inspired by the history of the building in which it is situated. In February 2014 Traces will be taking over an unused premises in London and bringing back traces of its former glory. Artists and designers will help recreate the sights, sounds, tastes, touches and smells of a time gone by.

Traces is looking for an artist, designer or collective for an exciting interactive commission. The commission is for a ten day event from the 6th to the 16th February 2014.

The fee is £1200 and includes artists’ fees and the production budget.

A free resource for sculptors, designers, model-makers, prop-makers or just anyone interested in the practicalities of making.
I started building this site almost two years ago because I wanted an immediate and ‘no nonsense’ means of recording and sharing my experiences of making. I earn much of my living ‘explaining how to make things’ and I spend the rest of my time developing and extending that knowledge i.e. researching old and new methods, testing materials and creating objects which illustrate the results. The Wordpress site is a platform (more like a studio shelf) for this work.
It is a simple site, and there are various search possibilities or ways of using it. In addition to the dated posts there are organized pages, grouped under ‘Materials’ or ‘Methods’, which provide outline information including suppliers and prices, and a growing ‘Vocabularly’ of clear definitions.
It is not a ‘chatty’ site, partly because the focus is tuned on fact rather than opinion. All information is as far as possible vetted, tested, or based on direct personal experience rather than hearsay.
I’ve recently posted fairly thorough articles dealing with the main areas of model-making work .. main construction, fine construction, modelling&shaping, creating surfaces and painting .. geared towards theatre design work but applicable to other disciplines. I’ve also developed an A-Z ‘Lexicon’ and added extensively to it, with the hope that this will become a comprehensive source of definitions for materials and processes.
