Dragonbird Theatre Seeks Freelance Fundraiser



Fee: £125 per day (Freelance wage) negotiable depending on experience.
Period of Employment: 15 days over 3 months however timeframe and dates can be negotiated.  There may be the opportunity to extend the engagement.
About DragonBird Theatre
DragonBird Theatre deliver theatre and play to Early Years and their grown ups all over Bristol and the surrounding area.  It is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company which has grown from strength to strength since its founding in 2013.  The company produces theatrical interactive shows which visit local community venues, regional theatres, schools, children centres, a hospice and events.
We provide over 10,000 participatory experiences per year for children and their families/carers. 
Our programme also includes Inset/CPD for Early Years Practitioners and workshops for Drama students looking to create theatre for a young audience.
DragonBird Theatre is based in Bristol but also run sessions in Portishead, Long Ashton and Bath. Our work has a strong focus in engaging local communities as well as reaching young families across Bristol.

Job purpose
We are seeking additional fundraising capacity to allow us to grow our programme and sustain us as a company.
Key duties:
  • Secure funding for current and further DragonBird projects.
  • Researching funding opportunities for an Arts Administrator to join DragonBird.
We envisage that money raised will be a mixture of key funders, trusts and foundations and corporate donations.
Person specification
We are looking for someone with:
  • Interest and understanding of theatre for Early Years audiences and participation work with families.
  • A minimum of two years relevant fundraising experience
  • Strong organisational skills, with an ability to self-manage and motivate
  • A demonstrable track record in successfully raising funds from key funders, trusts and foundations and a comprehensive knowledge of the trust and foundation sector, including key funders and their priorities.
  • Experience of gaining corporate donations and understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility in view to advising on a CSR strategy.
Location  Preferably live in or around Bristol.
The fundraiser can work flexibly from home but we also require that some time will be spent in briefings and meetings with the Directors. We are keen that the fundraiser is able to get to know our company and our work so we will be also asking them to drop in to sessions where appropriate.

Paintings in Hospitals are seeking a dynamic Regional Coordinator to help us provide an outstanding art loan service in the South West that promotes health, wellbeing and empowerment for all.
As a national charity that uses art and creativity to improve the wellbeing of patients, staff and those caring for them, we create uplifting environments to benefit the lives of over 1.8 million patients, visitors and staff every year.
Working from home and at health and social care partner sites, the Regional Coordinator for the South West will help us to increase the number of health and social care sites using our services. The Regional Coordinator will develop and deliver innovative engagement activities with service users, patients and staff from new and existing health and social care partners, leading to sites borrowing artworks from the Paintings in Hospitals collection. The Regional Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the care and display of the artworks at our hub site (Southmead Hospital, Bristol) and in the region: renewing current loans, and leading the regional volunteer team.

You will have excellent communication skills, knowledge of the health and social care and a passion for the visual arts. A motivated individual with experience of working with loans within a museum environment, you will be results-driven with a track record of achieving targets and a strong desire to help people. You will have the organisational skills to prioritise and manage a challenging and diverse workload, and the ability to relate to people from a wide range of backgrounds. Strong administration, sales and account management skills and an understanding of how our activities improve health and wellbeing will all help you succeed in this role.

Freelance Portrait Photographer Wanted - Zzzone Bristol




This is an exciting role at Zzzone Photography Studios photographing all different types of subjects in our creative studio in Redland, Bristol. 

We are looking for a sparky and enthusiastic individual to bring new and exciting ideas to our growing photography business. Please do not apply if you haven’t got any previous experience working in a portrait studio with kids and families. This is the bulk of our work although we also photograph actors, dancers, models, animals and products. 

Getting expressions out of people of all ages is VITAL for this role. The applicant must be an individual with high energy levels, a bubbly personality and patience. A good understanding of posing people of all shapes and sizes is an absolute must here. 

Please see the images attached for examples of our portrait work. The applicant must understand how we arrived at these images and have experience with studio lighting. Further technical lighting training will be given to the successful applicant to fit to our vibrant style. 

This is a freelance position starting with 2 days a week (including regular Saturdays) and will quickly turn into 3-4 days as we approach our busier time in the year. The position is available for the end of July/early August. 

Other responsibilities will include telephone work, admin and social media tasks. The successful applicant will have free use of the studio space and equipment outside of hours.

Artelier is a small arts business working on projects both nationally and internationally. 

Artelier is seeking a highly motivated and experienced administrator to work on a freelance basis alongside the director David Knowles. On average 8-16 hours/week (1-2 days) This is for an initial period of 6 months, but with the view for this to become a more permanent arrangement.

The role will mainly involve working in a small office in central Bristol near Gloucester Rd and there may be occasional working from home and travel. 

Main duties will include: 

1. Client and supplier database management 
2. Email and telephone correspondence with clients and suppliers 
3. Research - online 
4. Marketing campaigns - email 
5. General office admin and support 

Pay: Negotiable. Dependant on experience. Inline with current salaries and applicant's previous roles. 

Person specification: 

1. Several years experience in an admin, marketing or sales role.
2. Experience of working in a team and for a small business or organisation. 
3. Highly organised and efficient. 
4. Excellent attention to detail. 
5. Bristol based or within easy reach of central Bristol and willing to travel occasionally. 
6. An interest in art, design and architecture would be preferable but not essential. 
7. Experience of working freelance is prefferable.

Roaring Girl Productions (RGP) is recruiting a Personal Assistant (PA) for artist-activist Liz Crow to assist her during a key phase of her latest performance project.

A PA is employed and directed by a disabled person to give assistance with whatever tasks the employer finds difficult to carry out unaided and working to the employer’s specific instructions.

RGP is a creative media company based in Bristol, working in film, audio, text and performance. We combine high quality creative work with practical activism. You can find out more at www.roaring-girl.com.

Liz’s latest project is Figures (wearefigures.co.uk), a mass-sculptural durational performance taking place in response to the UK government’s austerity programme. Figures is setting out to represent the human cost of austerity and to urge action against it.

On the foreshore of the Thames, Liz will sculpt 650 small human figures from excavated raw river mud, each one representing an individual at the sharp end of austerity. As the incoming tide forces retreat, the figures will be removed to safety. Each time the water recedes, the artist will return to sculpt more figures, in a ritual spanning 11 consecutive days and nights.

As a PA, you would be working closely with Liz, but also within the project team, as follows:

1. Your primary role is to provide direct personal assistance for Liz. This includes driving, lifting, some personal care, and food preparation.

2. In addition, you may be asked to undertake a variety of other production tasks, as needed, including loading, driving, administration, etc.

3. Ideally, you will also be a named first aider for the project and able to undertake first aid should the need arise. [This element of the brief is desirable rather than essential.]

North Somerset Arts has secured a grant from the Quartet Foundation, a part of this funding is to conduct research in residential care settings in Nailsea and Backwell (in North Somerset, approx miles from Bristol).
Interviewing managers and residents the aim of this research is to establish the interests and needs of these groups with the aim of developing a range of relevant arts based workshops in these areas.

Zzzone Photography Studio is a small independent studio in Bristol focusing on cutting-edge family photography including baby, maternity, makeover and corporate portraits. We are looking for a freelance photographer to join our team. You should be a friendly and energetic individual with a great personality and willingness to produce new and exciting photography. It is a must that you are comfortable working with children and directing several people around the studio. It would be an added bonus if you have worked in a photography studio before but full training will be provided. 

The main job role is for a photographer but other duties will include admin, editing, and day to day running of the studio. We want you to be an integral part of our team as we push the business forward. 

The starting wage is £8 p/hr with hours from 10am to 6pm. After our trial period of 3 months, there will be an opportunity to earn commission. 

Your days of work will be Thursday to Saturday and there will be the opportunity for 4-5 days a week later in the year.

Paintings in Hospitals is seeking a Regional Coordinator to increase the number of health and social care sites using its services in the South West.
Based at home, the Regional Coordinator for the South West (covering: Bristol, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset, and Dorset)will generate artwork loans and renew existing loans on behalf of the charity. Freelance Graphic Designer, Betsy Benn Ltd, Cheltenham


Bespoke Printmakers, Betsy Benn are seeking freelance temporary support in our graphic design department over the busy Christmas period. We need full time hours in November and December and some part time hours in October after an initial training period. 

The role involves creating illustrator files from a set of information given per order and a range of templates. 

This is a home working position and as such you need your own computer and adobe illustrator version 6 or CC. 

Full training will be given but we'll expect you to have a good working knowledge of illustrator before we begin. 

Essential Skills Required: 

Good knowledge of adobe illustrator and excel 

Excellent attention to detail 

Self motivated and proactive 


Once trained, files can be created in approx 3 - 6 minutes per file. Payment will be on a per file basis at a rate to be agreed. Should work out at an hourly rate of approx £7-8 per hour

We do require this to be on a freelance basis. Payment will be fortnightly in arrears on presentation of an invoice. It is the successful candidates responsibility to ensure they are registered as self employed or equivalent.

You will be working on a self-employed basis, contracted by ICIA University of Bath. Hot desk facilities will be available at ICIA (Institute of Contemporary Interdisciplinary Arts), University of Bath, Claverton Down, Bath BA2 7AY.
Much of the work for this role can be completed remotely, although at times you will need to be available for face-to-face meetings in Bath and the surrounding area. You will also need to be available in Bath on 5 Feb 2015 for the Centre for the Arts launch.

ICIA produces an ambitious programme of visual and performing arts based around an annual theme, as well as a full participatory programme. ICIA’s interdisciplinary emphasis sees it working not only across art-forms but also with other academic departments of the University of Bath. Our work is for students, University staff, and a much wider constituency of audiences and participants across Bath and beyond.
