Volunteer Coordinator - The Bristol Shakespeare Festival






The Bristol Shakespeare Festival is a volunteer run organisation, playing host to some of the UK’s most impressive touring theatre companies every July. The Festival looks to use iconic, unusual and much loved spaces to bring Shakespeare to life in our beautiful city.
We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer coordinator to work alongside the rest of the festival committee in order to help the festival run smoothly.

Key responsibilities:
·         Recruiting volunteers
·         Managing the volunteer rota
·         Correspondence with the team of volunteers

The Project:SKINT Theatre is a bold and brash new performance and night-life event aiming to bring Affordable, Social, Astonishing theatre to the heart of Bristol.
The project follows on from our first festival in July 2016 where we had 6 artists performing a total of 60 shows. This year we're going bigger and better, hoping to have 11 artists performing a total of 198 shows. A new show starts every 5 minutes!
We are looking to recruit 2 Box Office Assistants to ensure the smooth running of the festival. If you are interested in applying to both roles please do one application and indicate so in your cover letter.

 Front of House
  • Provide information to members of the public
  • Ring the show bell calling audiences for the next show
  • Check tickets and manages queues

Freelance Promoter/Communications Manager - Valley Fest 2017

Valley Fest is a small weekend family food and music festival on a gorgeous organic farm in the Chew Valley, Bristol.
2017 will be the third year of the festival and we are looking for a freelance promotions expert to help spread the word. We need someone who can think strategically, practically and creatively to reach new audiences. The right person will have great contacts, experience of promoting festivals and events, bright ideas around ticket sales, and a fun and positive attitude. The role will be home-based so they will need to be self-sufficient and motivated – we can be flexible on timings and location for the right person.
Role:
-      Create and manage a promotional plan for the festival, to incorporate:
- marketing activity
- strategic ticket sales
-       Work with sponsors and partners to co-promote the festival
-       Work with designers to create marketing collateral and website
-       Work with the social media coordinator and manage any online marketing
-       Attend and contribute to fortnightly festival management meetings
-       Budget management

Requirements:
-       Experience of marketing ticketed events and strategic ticket sales
-       Evidence of growing an event/festival through ticket sales
-       Experience of running a marketing campaign
-       Experience of working as an event promoter or PR for events/festivals
We anticipate the role will be approximately 2 days per week starting December 2016 and finishing August 2017. There is a basic rate of £1000 per month with a generous performance-based incentive.

Marketing Content Creator - Wildscreen Festival

The Wildscreen Festival is the internationally renowned festival that for 34 years has celebrated and advanced the art of natural world storytelling through film and photography. The Festival defines industry agendas, providing unique access to the sector’s most influential and innovative thought-leaders and decisionmakers. It delivers an unrivalled programme of c. 150 events including sessions, masterclasses, screenings and social events for the industry as well as an expanding collection of public-facing events across the city.

We're looking for an experienced, driven and creative marketing expert to plan and execute the marketing and communications strategy for the Wildscreen Festival 2016 that will take place in Bristol this October. The ideal person will be available for c. 28 days' work August - November, including the festival itself (10-14 Oct), will have experience of developing and delivering successful marketing plans and campaigns, and excellent copywriting, editing and proofreading skills.

Festival Manager - Valley Fest 2016

We have a great opportunity for a highly motivated and exceptionally well-organised person to join the team as Valley Fest 2016 Festival Manager.  Valley Fest is a small, annual, green-field camping festival that takes place on an organic farm just outside Bristol, in its second year with a maximum capacity of 5,000. We’re looking for someone to join the team and help Valley Fest grow into the best festival it can be.
We are looking for a self-motivated person to take the central role in the coordination and delivery of the festival alongside our Operations Manager and the team of Directors.  The successful applicant will have solid festival experience, be passionate about festivals and share the green values of Valley Fest.
This person will be expected to have some festival management experience, be competent in managing a team, be efficient at prioritising a busy workload, have a broad knowledge of festival production and be proficient in Microsoft packages & Excel.
The onsite dates of the position are April – September (inclusive). Pre-production will involve approximately 50 days worked remotely and 50 days working with the team in Bristol and the Chew Valley.

Open City Documentary Festival creates an open space in London to nurture and champion the art of creative documentary and non-fiction filmmakers. The festival offers filmmakers from around the globe the opportunity to have their work seen by award-winning judges, fellow filmmakers and a broad public audience.

Admin Assistant - The Bristol Festival Community Group


The Bristol Festival Community Group are excited to announce a forthcoming vacancy for a part time Administration Assistant as we expand our team in preparation for 2016’s events.
Job Description:
3 days/ week
£18k pro rata
Contract Jan – August 2016. Renewal then possible on an annual basis.
Deadline: 6pm, Thursday 6th December 2015
Hours/days flexible but based in our central Bristol office, mostly between the hours of 8:30am – 6pm. However some evenings will apply for volunteer meetings, and weekends for the festival events. No incomplete weeks(e.g. holidays) will be permitted from May to July due to this being the busiest time for this role.
Main Duties:
Assisting the Operations Director, trustees and other team members in a variety of administration duties to facilitate the smooth organisation of the festival events, including:
  • Invoicing of commercial elements, trade pitches, caterers, sponsors and fairgrounds
  • Maintaining an accounting system and chasing unpaid debtors
  • Making payments using online banking
  • Upkeep of an expense reclaim system and petty cash
  • Facilitating the sales of catering and trade pitches, answering emails and general enquiries
  • Gathering H&S and power requirements from catering and trade pitch holders
  • Creating and maintaining databases and/or spreadsheets
  • Minute taking and distribution
  • Answering incoming email enquiries and phone calls
  • General office admin tasks
  • During the events you will be responsible for caterer and trade pitch liaison and payment systems
We are looking for someone organised, productive, good at time management, polite and enthusiastic. You will need an in-depth knowledge of excel, translating into google docs for shared working, and other digital systems a plus too. The festivals we run are organised by volunteers from the local community, with a small paid staff team assisting with the administration and commercial elements to enable the volunteers to concentrate on the creative programming and production. You will become part of this dynamic high-achieving team, helping to bring the community festival to life which is a highly rewarding and exciting experience.

Port Eliot Festival are looking for the right person to join their core management team for the 2016 Festival. The role is based in the Licensing and Operations Management of the Festival.
We are looking for someone with experience and understanding of Festival management, as a whole, as you will be putting together the backbone of the operations and feeding into all aspects of the organising to provide a rounded view with decision-making across all areas of the Festival. The right candidate will have experience of pre planning for a Festival, can demonstrate good administration skills and experience of on site planning in relation to operations and infrastructure.
The current organising team are spread between Cornwall, London & Bristol - the ideal candidate would be set up to work independently for the most part of the year, attending meetings in Port Eliot as required.

Are you a parent who either works or plays within one or several of our famed festivals in the United Kingdom?
If so you are sure to know the difficulties that arise when attempting to divide your time between your children, work and play.

Our team of dedicated and inspirational registered nannies are on hand to help. 

Depending on the size of the event, we will have nannies on site 1 week (7 days) before the first Thursday of the festival - until the Thursday following the finish. That's 2 weeks of available childcare. 
Shifts usually run 10am-6pm, or 6pm-2am, however longer care can be arranged with plenty of prior warning.

Please book at least 2 weeks before arrival to the site with exact dates/times. Are you a parent who either works or plays within one or several of our famed festivals in the United Kingdom?

Job Outline

PuppetPlace are looking for an accommodation host to meet and greet the festival artists as well as ensuring the accommodation is presentable and clean. This person will be based at Goldney Hall, Clifton and will need to be available between 25 August – 7 September.

Festival Accommodation is provided for artists in 3 8-bedroom flats. This role is a key part of making BFP15 a successful event as it ensures that our artists are happy and relaxed and feel welcomed to Bristol and supported by the festival. We are looking for someone who is a brilliant communicator, willing to work as part of a small team, able to keep calm under pressure and enjoys hard work!

Specific tasks involve
·         Accommodation Set Up – ensure that the accommodation is  kitted out according to BFP15 standards.
·         Meeting and greeting festival artists.
·         Showing artists to their rooms and ensuring they have everything they need.
·         Arranging local transportation between festival venues and accommodation.
·         Organising food shopping to maintain stock in line with BFP15 hospitality budgets
·         Changing beds, cleaning bedroom, kitchen and bathroom areas.
·         BFP15 Accommodation Clear Out – ensure that the festival return the flats to Goldney Hall in an appropriate and fit state.




Person Specification

Essential
  • Previous experience in hospitality and customer service
  • A warm and friendly manner with the ability to solve problems should they arise
  • Strong organisation skills
  • Knowledge of Bristol (Clifton, Southville and Central in particular)
  • Having your own, reliable transport
  • Able to work to tight deadlines     

Desirable
  • Previous experience of working specifically in a Hotel/B&B/Hostel
  • Additional language skills
  • Up to date First Aid training
