Calling all choreographers, dance teachers, workshop leaders and emerging dance artists!

An exciting new dance festival is planned for Bristol and the surrounding area, to take place late 2017/early 2018.

The festival will provide performance opportunities for all ages, abilities and styles of dance from the community as well as a platform for emerging dance artists to share their work and engage with the other performers through workshops.

We are currently looking to collect contact details from groups who fit one of the following criteria:

• Dance schools/groups who do not often have the chance to perform on a professional stage
• Youth or Community groups who currently provide/would like to provide dance sessions to those who often do not have access to dance
• Groups who provide/would like to provide dance to those with physical disabilities or learning difficulties (youth or adult)
• Adult dance groups of any age
• Dance Artists who are interested in showcasing their work and leading professional workshops
• Students/Volunteers looking for hands on backstage or event management experience and the possibility of taking their Gold Arts Award (accredited by The Arts Council and Trinity College, London which provides UCAS points for University applications)

Please note submissions are open to ALL ages, abilities and dance styles.  The festival will aim to celebrate the diversity of dance opportunities on offer in the region.

During 2016 the Somerset & Dorset Railway Trust will mark the 50th anniversary of closure of the Somerset & Dorset (S&D) Railway in March 1966 after 112 years of service. We will commemorate this much loved and lamented railway with a programme of events at sites associated with the S&D and at our own base at Washford station on the West Somerset Railway. A travelling exhibition and associated activities will visit communities along the routes of this iconic railway from Bath to Burnham-on-Sea, Wells and Bridgwater in Somerset, and to Poole, Bournemouth and Wimborne in Dorset. 

The project will help keep alive the spirit, history and heritage of the railway as a major cross country rail route, its importance to the communities through which it passed, and the social impact of its closure. Working in partnership with councils, museums, libraries, heritage railways and other groups we will engage with local communities through a range of interpretative materials, outdoor arts, activities and presentations. 

The project is supported by an Our Heritage grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). 

The Trust requires an experienced outdoor artist (or artists) to design, create and deliver a dramatic, bold and imaginative interpretation of events surrounding the closure of the S&D in 1966. The interpretation is to take place at a number of outdoor locations to coincide with the travelling exhibition and other events between March and October 2016.

Creative Volunteer India - The Create Trust

The Create Trust is looking for creative volunteers to work on an education project in Rajasthan beginning mid/late October 2015 for a month or so. Theatre practitioners, visual artists, musicians and/or dancers would all be welcome.

The project is aimed at acutely disadvanataged children of all ages, and women, from the lowest castes in India society.

Volunteers will help design the workshops, contribute to planning and co-deliver workshops. 

Basic accomodation (with bathrooms) and (vegetarian) food will be provided in India by the Create Trust and the partner Indian ngo (Anuvibha) in Rajsamand Rajasthan.

Volunteers will be responsible for their own travel costs, i.e. flight to India(Delhi or Mumbai) and interal travel onto Udaipur - which is the nearest city to where the project will run.

You'll be recreating and wearing the classic Cultist costumes circa 2K12, for performances at upcoming shows including SPILL Festival of Performance, Bristol Biennial and Saatchi Gallery in the UK (September/October) as well as Gallery Joey Ramone as part of International Film Festival Rotterdam (December/January). 

You will be required to learn loosely synchronised chants and body motions to be enacted during the ritual performances. There will be a number of costume preperation and rehearsal sessions leading up to the scheduled shows, the dates of the sessions will be flexible based on availability of participants.

The Cult is constantly expanding and evolving. The requirements for the upcoming shows are specific, defined roles. All 10 performers taking part will have the opportunity to work with the Cult in future performances. The Cult have an extensive history of involvement in large scale exhibitions and events across Europe —including performances and screenings at Modern Art Oxford (Open File 4, Sounding, in conjunction with Barbara Kruger exhibition),  the Barbican Centre London (Hack the Barbican 2K13), and New Art Gallery Walsall (The Hecklers, in conjunction withDamien Hirst exhibition). 2014/15 will see the Cult return to International Film Festival Rotterdam for a second time.

Choreographer and Dancer Residency, Halsway Manor

Stepping Out is our residency programme to support young choreographers and dancers working in any dance genre to develop their work and explore folk music and dance as part of their practice. 

The residency is open to choreographers and dancers age 18 - 25 and will take place at Halsway Manor, a national centre for the folk arts near Crowcombe in Somerset. Throughout the residency choreographers and dancers will explore themes of war and injustice and create material for a scratch performance at the Hothouse festival on 19th April 2014. They will be supported by folk dance artist Kerry Fletcher and contemporary dance artist Clare Parker. 

The residency will run in parallel to the Hothouse programme for young musicians and there will be opportunities for collaboration. 

Accommodation and catering are provided for successful applicants.

Red Vatican is a London based ethical designer fashion label.

We're currently looking for artists/creatives to shoot for our campaign e.g. Actors, Dancers, Stylists, Painters, Sculptors, Filmmakers, Model/Presenters etc etc etc! 

The shoot will take place at our studio in Hackney on the 11th or the 18th of January; you will need to be available for the entire day.

The Institute of Contemporary Interdisciplinary Arts, (ICIA), produces an ambitious programme of visual and performing arts, as well as a full participatory programme. Modern Art Oxford seeking actors and dancers for exhibition

Modern Art Oxford are seeking people with skills in performance, dance and drama to take part in a new and unique exhibition at Modern Art Oxford by renowned visual artist Eva Koťátková. The exhibition will take place from 29 November 2013 to 2 February 2014. Eva is a sculptor who includes people in her work. For this exhibition she is creating a series of tableaux or ‘scenes’ throughout the gallery in which performers will be asked to react via movement, temporary body constellations and poses to an audio track which explores the physical mechanisms of speech and relates to articulation or pronunciation failures and difficulties of the recorded voice. We are currently putting together a group of performers who can commit to part or the whole of the exhibition. Participants will be required to take part in a series of paid rehearsals and perform throughout the duration of the exhibition either between Tuesday to Saturday or just Sundays. Modern Art Oxford can offer performers a daily rate for 5 and 7 hour days respectively. Co-Curator of Movement

Compass Presents (www.compasspresents.com) are recruiting a VOLUNTEER CO-CURATOR OF MOVEMENT to work with an experienced and dynamic team.  The Caligari Experience, taking place in Bristol in March 2014 will be created by Compass Presents in collaboration with Limbic Cinema, one of the UKs foremost live visuals teams, and renowned live scoremakers MINIMA.  The show will be an original and exciting cross of a cinematic and theatrical experience; the atmosphere and narrative of the 1920s silent gothic film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari will be conveyed through large-scale cinema projection, live music, interactive visuals and a strong aspect of circus and movement performance.

You will work with an ensemble of dance/circus performers and will take the lead in choreographing a number of movement sequences of this event.  This person will be able to use a planned storyboard for direction and effectively interpret the brief to successfully choreograph the movement pieces using the capabilities of the performers.  The selected person will collaborate with the already appointed Co-curator of movement to ensure successful execution of the movement and dance aspects of this event.  This is an excellent opportunity for those with an interest in dance/circus and film, for those looking for more experience within these areas, or who would like to pursue a future in movement and choreography. This may be of interest to recent dance, choreography and performance graduates and those pursuing a career in the performing arts, directing or dance.

Ideally you will be:

* Able to choreograph interesting and dynamic movement sequences conveying particular atmospheres, in conjunction with a storyboard of the show.

* Able to commit to a rehearsal schedule of at least 1 four-hour session per week between February and March, with more in the final week before performance (Exact rehearsal schedule TBC)

* Able to commit to an approx. fortnightly programming meeting between Mid-October and the production in March
