Development Manager - Bath and North East Somerset Council


Pay: 25-30k 
Hours: 37 Hours per week (Suitable for job share)
Temporary- Maternity cover

Supporting the development of the Roman Baths, Fashion Museum, Victoria Art Gallery, Bath Record Office and ‘City of Bath’ World Heritage Site.
You will attract external funds through fundraising campaigns, sponsorship opportunities and corporate giving schemes. Where appropriate you will work through the charitable Roman Baths Foundation when fundraising for education and conservation projects in the Roman Baths. The first task of this maternity cover post will be to fundraise for the Roman Baths Archway Centre, contributing to the development of major new education and learning facilities in the Roman Baths and a new World Heritage Centre for Bath.
You will be educated to degree level with a post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline such as marketing, communications or project management. You will have a proven track record of attracting significant financial contributions from external sources and experience of successfully developing schemes for fundraising, sponsorship and corporate giving. You will be personally well organised with exceptional presentation and project management skills and a high standard of written English. The post is based at the Pump Room in Bath.

The Arts Events and Film Team at Bristol City Council are looking for a part-time Arts Development Officer. 

Bristol is renowned for its thriving cultural sector, creativity and innovation and this post will be key to ensuring Bristol continues to be a city where creativity is valued and supported. 

The post holder will be responsible for: 
• Providing daily support and advice to artists and arts organisations. For example funding advice, sourcing of low cost temporary creative space, project development and organising creative forums; 
• Informing the review and development of new initiatives and policies of significance to the stability and growth of the sector; 
• Supporting the development of new creative work by managing Bristol City Council project funding and fund raising; 
• Promoting creative activity in the city through traditional and digital media; and 
• Working with partners to develop and deliver outreach projects.

St George's Bristol is one of Britain's leading concert halls and recording studios, famous for its exceptionally fine acoustic and unique atmosphere. It prides itself on attracting an ever growing number of the world's leading musicians to Bristol and presenting a full and vibrant programme, with over 200 events each year. These events range from classical, jazz, blues, folk and world music to book talks, debates and family and children's events. It also hosts a growing number of private events, from seminars, conferences and AGMs to awards ceremonies, graduations and wedding receptions.
In addition to hosting the best live music from around the world, its Education Programme and Outreach Projects bring thousands of children to the venue to participate in workshops, to stage their own performances and to watch artists rehearse and perform, and takes musicians into schools and the community for workshops and interactive concerts.
Job Purpose
The Head of Fundraising & Development will be responsible for the development and delivery of St George’s wide-ranging fundraising and development strategy and meeting of the annual funding targets, which include:
  • Annual core funding target of c. £350k
  • £5 million capital works project scheduled for completion in 2017
  • Agreed targets for individual giving set as part of a Catalyst award from Arts Council England.
The Head of Fundraising & Development will report to the Director and be part of the Senior Management Team. This role will line manage a full time Development Officer and may also be responsible for the work of any freelance staff who might periodically be required.
