The Architecture Centre, Bristol is recruiting a Programme Manager.

The post of Programme Manager is a key role in the organisation. Working closely with colleagues as part of a small team, you will initiate a programme of exhibitions, events and other projects; develop relationships to sustain and grow the programme; and contribute to the strategic planning and development of the Centre.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced marketing and communications professional to join the team.  This new post will be a key role in the organisation, leading on marketing across all areas of our activities. This is a significant year for the Architecture Centre as we celebrate our 20th anniversary, develop a new brand identity and website, and start a high profile 3-year project to develop Bristol’s annual Doors Open Day festival (funded by HLF and Historic England). The Marketing & Communications Manager will play an important part in these activities and help to steer the Centre to the next stage in its development.

Reporting to the Centre Manager, this is a fantastic opportunity for an energetic and proactive team player wishing to make their mark in a small but ambitious organisation. The Centre is committed to staff professional and personal development, and as the Centre’s activities grow there is the potential for the role to develop further, for example by extending fundraising and development responsibilities.

The successful applicant will have at least 3 years’ professional marketing experience, an excellent network of media contacts, be a brilliant communicator, and have an enthusiasm for architecture and design.

Project Coordinator: Opening Doors to Heritage, The Architecture Centre

The Architecture Centre is Bristol’s centre for design and the built environment and an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. We are seeking a Project Coordinator to oversee delivery of an exciting new project to connect people and places.

‘Opening Doors to Heritage’ is a 3-year project to extend the reach and accessibility of Bristol’s ‘Doors Open’ offer, inspiring new audiences to enjoy, learn about and become involved in their local heritage and built environment. The programme is managed by the Architecture Centre and supported by Historic England and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

We are seeking a proactive and well-qualified person to coordinate the project and drive it forward. The post-holder will be responsible for the delivery of key work strands: a volunteer learning and engagement programme, the annual Bristol Doors Open Day event (www.bristoldoorsopenday.org.uk), wider ‘Doors Open’ public programme, marketing activities, and expansion of digital activity.  The post-holder will also work with Architecture Centre colleagues to contribute to other elements of the project including fundraising, community outreach and the schools programme.

The successful candidate will have experience of coordinating complex projects, organising and marketing events, and managing volunteers, as well excellent digital skills and an enthusiasm for architecture, heritage and the built environment.

Sunday Centre Assistant - The Architecture Centre

Are you passionate about design? Would you like to share your enthusiasm with our gallery visitors? We are seeking a Centre Assistant to work every Sunday (11.45 am - 5.15pm), welcoming visitors, invigilating the gallery, and helping with other activities. If you have an interest in the built environment and some visitor- or customer-facing experience this is an excellent opportunity to become involved in the Centre's work. Open Call for Guest Bloggers - #shapemycity

#shapemycity #takeover – call out for young guest bloggers 
To celebrate Takeover Day, the Architecture Centre will be ‘taken over’ by our 
#shapemycity youth programme from 21 Nov – 23 Dec, through an interactive exhibition, 
social media and blog. 

The Architecture Centre is offering the opportunity for 6 young Bristolians (aged 15-24 
years) to become guest bloggers on our #shapemycity blog in the lead up to, and during, 
the #takeover event. 

#shapemycity is all about getting young people to think about the city around them, who 
different places are designed for, why the city is how it is and who contributed to making it 
that way. We would like our young guest bloggers to think about Bristol in their blog posts. 
Possible themes to reflect on could be: 
- your favourite Bristol buildings /places and why? 
- your least favourite Bristol places and why? 
- public spaces, spaces for art, music, street art, being social, sport 
- your neighbourhood, identity, belonging, sense of place 
- what a certain place means to you, what you do in certain places, what places have 
memories for you? 
- Do you think the city has enough quality places/spaces for young people to do what 
they want/need to do? 
- Do you feel you have a say in shaping the city/your neighbourhood? 
- How could Bristol be a more youth friendly city? 

Blog articles can be a maximum of 500 words and need to include a selection of images. We will publish details of each guest blog editor on the blog, the Architecture Centre website 
and via social media.
