Project Coordinator: Opening Doors to Heritage, The Architecture Centre


Pay: 20-25k pro-rata

The Architecture Centre is Bristol’s centre for design and the built environment and an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. We are seeking a Project Coordinator to oversee delivery of an exciting new project to connect people and places.
‘Opening Doors to Heritage’ is a 3-year project to extend the reach and accessibility of Bristol’s ‘Doors Open’ offer, inspiring new audiences to enjoy, learn about and become involved in their local heritage and built environment. The programme is managed by the Architecture Centre and supported by Historic England and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
We are seeking a proactive and well-qualified person to coordinate the project and drive it forward. The post-holder will be responsible for the delivery of key work strands: a volunteer learning and engagement programme, the annual Bristol Doors Open Day event (www.bristoldoorsopenday.org.uk), wider ‘Doors Open’ public programme, marketing activities, and expansion of digital activity.  The post-holder will also work with Architecture Centre colleagues to contribute to other elements of the project including fundraising, community outreach and the schools programme.
The successful candidate will have experience of coordinating complex projects, organising and marketing events, and managing volunteers, as well excellent digital skills and an enthusiasm for architecture, heritage and the built environment.

Paid Internship for Young Person Interested in Heritage, Public Engagement or Education

We now have a fantastic opportunity for an intern to support the Public Engagement team in marketing and the running the events programme at Arnos Vale. We are looking for a young person between the ages of 18 and 24 who is interested in pursuing a career in heritage, public engagement or education. The intern role is for 6 months at 30 hours per week.
What will the role involve
  • Writing PR material, visitor information, site information and marketing
  • Improving the visitor experience through surveying, questionnaires and observations, then analysing the data.
  • Office based work
  • Research for exhibitions, schools materials and projects (may require some off-site working)
  • Working directly with the public. Supporting the running of schools workshops, family activities and public events including theatre productions, music events and exhibitions. Care and recording of the museum collections (full training will be given).
  • Events management – bookings, tickets, answering email queries, taking bookings and managing ticket sales
Skills and qualifications:
Essential
Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
Able to work some weekends and evenings
Physically active
Clear handwriting
Ability to use the internet for research
Excellent verbal communication skills
Maths and English GCSE (grade A-C)
Desired
Ability to use Microsoft Outlook
Understanding of social media
Experience of working with the public, especially families

This paid internship has been created as part of the Creative Employment Programme. The Creative Employment Programme is an Arts Council England Fund to support the creation of traineeships, formal apprenticeship and paid internship opportunities in England for unemployed young people wishing to pursue a career in the arts and cultural sector.
