Textile and Jewellery Tutors/Workshop Leaders - The Crafty Hen


Pay: 15-20k pro rata
Deadline: Monday 22nd February 2016
We are looking for experienced workshop leaders and assistants to run our sessions across the UK for our expanding craft workshop company.  We are recruiting for particular sessions, but also seeking to increase our pool of makers (particularly those skilled in textiles and jewellery) for regular sessions. Transport is essential for most locations.

Our sessions require experienced tutors. Basic training will be provided on the exact session content, but we envisage you teaching it with your own flair and style. Please note we are not looking for workshop proposals.  Materials and equipment will be provided, and session preparation done for you, we just need your flair to teach it!

Polly Wales is seeking a new bench-worker to join her successful design-led jewellery brand in the creative Cotswold market town of Stroud, Gloucestershire.
Polly has gained a strong reputation for her unique approach to casting stones in place. Working exclusively in gold, precious stones and diamonds she creates one-of-a-kind fine jewellery stocked internationally by an ever-growing list of retailers.
We are a fast-growing business and it is important that the applicant can embrace the challenge of working in a continually growing environment. Adaptability and a willingness to get on board are key. For the successful applicant this role offers a fantastic opportunity to grow and progress within the company, with endless potential to demonstrate initiative, learn new skills and develop professionally.
Role includes:
* Assisting Workshop Manager with production of samples and manufacturing complete orders (bespoke and stock)
o Cleaning up castings
o Assembling & finishing
o Re-sizing
o Some stone-setting work
* Carrying out repairs
* Assisting with smooth-running of workshop
Essential Skills & Experience
The successful applicant must:
* Have 5-10 years workshop experience, at least two of those in batch-production of gold and silver jewellery
* Be extremely accomplished at small and large-scale soldering and assembling*
* Be confident with basic stone setting and basic mounting*
* Be experience in cleaning up castings*
* Be able to produce high-quality work at a fast pace
* Be systematic and efficient
* Be dedicated, punctual and hard-working
* Be able to work well with the brand’s unique aesthetic
* Be fastidious with a keen eye for detail
* Be willing and happy to take on challenges, experiment with new processes/materials/techniques and problem-solve
* Thrive in a busy, intimate working environment and work well under pressure, often working to tight timeframes
* Be able to travel to our workshop in Stroud (WE ARE NOT IN LONDON!)
* at production level
Desired Skills & Experience
* Knowledge, familiarity or specific interest/passion in the Polly Wales brand
* An understanding of luxury brands and current fine jewellery trends

Polly Wales is seeking a new administrative/sales staff member to join her successful design-led jewellery brand in the creative Cotswold market town of Stroud, Gloucestershire.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a bright, motivated individual with plenty of initiative to carve out a unique role for themselves in a dynamic small business that creates one-of-a-kind pieces of fine jewellery.
Role includes:
* Managing communications regarding bespoke quotes and commissions
* Responding to customer queries
* Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and retailers
* General administration, logistical and office support, including international shipping
The successful applicant must:
* Have at least three years experience in sales
* Be fastidious with a keen eye for detail
* Be eloquent with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral
* Be adaptable and able to juggle multiple tasks while delivering to required deadlines
* Be confident using both Microsoft Office software & Apple Mac
* Be passionate about jewellery
* Be willing and able to take on challenges and problem-solve
* Thrive in a busy, intimate working environment and work well under pressure
Previous experience or familiarity with jewellery (manufacturing, gemstones, processes, techniques) will afford candidates a strong advantage.
