Got a creative idea? Could you make it into a film?

Calling the Shots are looking for young people with brilliant ideas to produce a series of short films for Arts Council England and for potential inclusion in Random Acts, the arts series broadcast on Channel 4. The closing date for this round of applications is March 22nd 2016, but you can submit at any time from now.

If you’re aged 16-24 and currently live or study in the South West (check your region), you are eligible to apply and have a chance to become one of 72 successful young people whose ideas will go into production over the next three years.

You do not have to have any filmmaking experience or be a filmmaker – you just need to have a great idea and a clear creative vision. Your idea can be based on absolutely anything – it could be a spoken word piece, an artwork, a music video, a dance, or a wild animation… You could be an artist, a dancer, a writer or a poet – there are no limits or definitions as to who we want to apply. We want you to confront, surprise and challenge us with your short film idea. Completed films will need to be between 90 seconds and three minutes long, so bear this in mind when applying.

All successful applicants will be partnered with an industry mentor who will guide them through the filmmaking process and provide the equipment, training and crew that they need to create a broadcast-quality short film. It’s an amazing opportunity to get experience and insight into the industry and to make new connections.

We are one of the 4 organisations in the UK that are designated network centres to house this opportunity. Others are ICA (London), Tyneside Cinema (North), Screen South (South East) and the Rural Media Company (Midlands). A vital part of the delivery team for the October 2016 Wildscreen Festival, the Festival Assistant position is a varied role incorporating elements of programming, marketing and administration.

Wildscreen is a small organisation with big outputs therefore each individual has a big role to play in their delivery. The successful candidate will have had several years of office-based employment - with some element of production or event management experience - along with a knack for organising data, handling large amounts of correspondence and an enthusiastic approach to managing a very busy workload and tight deadlines.

Small Acts of Rebellion are currently seeking 4 theatre makers who are skilled devisers and collaborators and a film maker and editor for our Research and Development process of FAIR GAME.

We are looking for practitioners who;

-Have a positive energetic attitude

-Have some experience with immersive theatre

-Have an understanding of or interest in the issue of sexual violence in our society

-Have experience of or interest in outreach work

We are working in partnership with Somerset & Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Service, Brook and Bristol City Council and leading industry experts in devised and immersive theatre to create a dynamic immersive piece of theatre for teenagers about consent and healthy relationships.

This collaborative process will take place over 3 weeks in June and july exact dates TBC and we will be performing a show case of our work at the end of the project.

Equity rates will be paid.

Crew Wanted for Short Film

We are in need of some crew members for our drama short film. The film will be about 10 minutes in length, mainly internal scenes with only one external location. 

We are a group of University of Bristol film major honour graduates who launched our media company together with some local professionals. We are planning to submit the film to various international film festivals. It'll be a great opportunity to meet other local talents and we guarantee you a great onset experience! 

We have on board a DoP with 20 years of industrial experience. The film will be shot on Sony PMW F3. 

Here is a brief introduction to this project: 

Production: The Way We Were (short film) 
Location: Bristol 
Duration: 4-5 days in Mid-Late April 

Genre: Drama 
Synopsis: A love story about a transnational couple. The narrative first lets the audience experience the end of a relationship before following the protagonists to the point where they first met. It provides the audience with a unique view of love and relationships.

JW3 (Jewish Arts, Community Centre London) is home to London's newest independent cinema and here is your chance if you are a filmmaker or artist creating short films, video art or any other type of artists’ moving image, to get involved and submit your work to be shown on the big screen in our plush boutique 60 seater cinema at our newest film club evening - our Artists' Film Salon. Each evening will feature an informal talk from an artist – filmmaker with a different perspective to share on the world of artists’ moving image.

We're sending the call out for the Artists' Film Salon evening taking place on Monday 7th April at 8pm. 

Each Artists’ Film Salon is themed, and the theme this time is 'The Unknown'... be creative, artistic and interpret it however you like. We're open to all sorts of suggestions so show us what you can do! 

Artists’ Film Salon at JW3 Cinema is curated by JW3’s film programmer – Kate Ross, WhittyGordon Projects and with assistance from JW3’s cinema projectionist Tomasz Marek.

WhittyGordon Projects are artists and filmmakers Fiona Whitty and Jenny Gordon (both MA FA, Chelsea College of Art & Design) currently working on films and projects in London, the U.K, Ireland and Kingston Jamaica.

We are looking for a Jnr Editor to join our One Show team delivering creative and distinctive films that cover a wide range of subjects including Natural History, Science, History, Music & Adventure.

The successful applicant will cut approximately 8x 4-5min films each month, working with several different Directors, the Series Producer & Exec Producer

The purpose of this role is to assist the Director in completing their ‘vision’ in the edit to the highest standards while meeting the specific requirements of the channel, ensuring that the project achieves the highest creative, journalistic, editorial and technical standards and delivers on time and within budget.

As editor you will work closely with the Director, PTA, PM and other members of the production team to offline films whilst remaining aware and managing potential costs involved in archive, graphics and deliverables.

Made From Scratch and IdeasTap are getting all loved up! 

We're on the hunt for five heart-thumping short films to screen at the upcoming Ideastap Takeover at Rich Mix. We're looking for epic romances, rom-coms, heart breaking tragedies and everything in between. The only catch is that you have just 60 seconds to tell your tale!

The IdeasTap Takeover is a five-day festival, taking place at London’s Rich Mix and featuring some of the most exciting artists in the UK. It will take place from Wednesday 12 February to Sunday 16 February 2014.

The top five filmmakers will each win £100 and an invite to see their work on screen at Rich Mix. It's enough to give you butterflies. We look forward to seeing your work.
