New Art Space in Ashton with two big workshops available

New art space in Ashton called @estateoftheartsbristol with two huge workshops available for artists, creatives and small businesses. Both spaces include access to our communal areas: kitchen, lounge, test space gallery and outdoor yard and are part of an energetic new creative community of around 30 people.

Unit 3 is 70sqm £630pm, with the start of a clean studio build and kichen area
Unit 4 is 76sqm £670pm

Call out for artists, creatives and small businesses seeking studio, workshop and creative space! @estate of the arts , a new arts space in Bedminster/Ashton, is currently taking applications for 4 industrial units and registering interest for a complex of studios in their main warehouse. Building not only a new work space in Bristol but an energetic creative community. With a large outdoor yard and indoor communal areas for meetings, breaks, workshops, projects and events.

Studios available to view from late October (once building is complete)

Experienced Furniture/Cabinet Maker wanted for full time role in small woodworking workshop



We are a small wood working (with some metal working) company based in Bristol. (KONK furniture

Mainly working with oak and steel to produce industrial style pieces, almost everything we send out is made to custom size or completely bespoke. 

We are looking for someone to join us full time. It's essential that you have had workshop experience already, and understand the need to work to deadlines. The position will involve all aspects of furniture making, and it is required that you have a good all round knowledge of woodworking. Being able to weld will be a massive bonus to this role. 

The role will require someone with a quick mind who is able to switch between tasks rapidly, while maintaining a high standard of work. 

Things we think are crucial: 

Love of woodworking. 

Ability to work quickly, and accurately, for extended periods of time. 

This job is physically demanding, the applicant must be in reasonable physical fitness. 

The salary will be based on experience.

Free Letterpress workshops for artists - Bristol Set in Print

Bristol Set In Print will be running 4 workshops over the summer months. These are aimed at those with a little experience and interest in Letterpress printing, the idea will be to have a group comprised of a mix of illustrators, artists, writers, graphic designers. There may be the possibility of some warm up workshops before these take place for those who are completely new to the practice.
These workshops will be delivered by a group of ex-printers from the letterpress print industry in Bristol. It will a chance for a unique collaboration celebrating the history of the city whilst developing a new form of print. The plan will be to create a large artwork of  a large map, showing where the old print houses once were.

There will be four workshops taking place either at Spike Print Studio or The Letterpress Colletive Each will involve a different stage of the printing processes.

21st of May- This will be an Introduction into the world of Print and the project.

We will start by looking a little bit of History into the background of the Bristol Print Industry. We will have a chance to design the final artwork, together we will create a map of Bristol, looking at where the print houses once were. 
 
11th of June- Composition.

We will begin to set the type for the project.

We will be working with a group of compositors, exploring spacing and the techniques of setting, in this informal workshop.
16th and 17th of July- Machine Minding and Finishing.
 Saturday and Sunday will be our final weekend of printing. For this stage we will work with a team of Machine Minders and NATSOPA's.

Creative Volunteer India - The Create Trust

The Create Trust is looking for creative volunteers to work on an education project in Rajasthan beginning mid/late October 2015 for a month or so. Theatre practitioners, visual artists, musicians and/or dancers would all be welcome.
The project is aimed at acutely disadvanataged children of all ages, and women, from the lowest castes in India society.
Volunteers will help design the workshops, contribute to planning and co-deliver workshops. 
Basic accomodation (with bathrooms) and (vegetarian) food will be provided in India by the Create Trust and the partner Indian ngo (Anuvibha) in Rajsamand Rajasthan.
Volunteers will be responsible for their own travel costs, i.e. flight to India(Delhi or Mumbai) and interal travel onto Udaipur - which is the nearest city to where the project will run.

The Art Troupe's Pilot Workshops, Hamilton House

With The Art Troupe you have a chance to be taught by a practitioner a skill that is related to their practice as well as having the opportunity to see their work and find out what makes each and every artist so unique in their approach. As an introductory offer each artist will facilitate just one 3 hour pilot workshop, to be held at Hamilton House, for which there will be a nominal charge to attendees of £15 per person. This nominal charge for the pilot workshops is half of the average price for a workshop!
