We are currently looking for experienced Painting Assistants to work in our Artist Studio based in Gloucestershire on a full-time, fixed term basis. Our ideal applicants should have great draftsmanship skills, a keen eye for detail and a good working knowledge of colour theory. We are looking for people who are friendly, flexible and enthusiastic with excellent timekeeping. Art handling, hanging and packing experience is desired but not essential.
Key requirements:
- Fine Art Diploma or equivalent with a background in the Arts or Graphics
- Experience of fabrication and installation of mainly 2D artwork projects under specific direction
- Experience & skills of using various paint mediums - acrylics, enamels, oils, etc
- Ability to look after and keep the working environment and the staff areas tidy
- Ability to look after and maintain any work related equipment including tools
- Ability to work accurately & with care (drawing, painting, measuring etc.)
- Good colour matching & paint mixing skills
- Strong communication skills
- The ability to work well within a team, or alone
Desired skills:
- Canvas stretching and priming
- Wide knowledge of painting techniques & materials
- Familiar with handling artworks (Sculpture/ Paintings) and fragile/delicate objects
- Computer literate -ideally Mac’s- Photoshop, Excel etc.
- Initiative & strong problem solving skills
- Confident with using a variety of tools (screwdriver, hammer etc)
- Full Clean driving licence
Other information:
- The working hours will be 40 hours per week
- The contract will be for a fixed term and there is a 3-month probationary period at the beginning of the contract
- You will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement as part of your terms of employment
