Paid Internship - Medavia ltd.

We are looking for talented paid interns to work in our Bristol office.  

Medavia is one of the leading agencies in the UK, supplying engaging features to a diverse range of publishers, from Take a Break and Closer to The Sun and Daily Mail Online. 

We’re now seeking paid interns to join us for two months in our office in Stokes Croft, Bristol. 

You’ll need to be bold, imaginative and passionate about storytelling for women's magazines, newspapers and multi-million readership websites. You’ll have natural instincts about where to find stories people actually want to read. 

You’ll have a good sense of humour and be ready to work hard. While knowledge of the industry is beneficial, energy and ambition are far more important than experience. 

In return, you’ll be able to fill your portfolio with cuttings from the world’s biggest publications, building an excellent springboard for a career in journalism. You’ll be fully trained by our Features Editor and have the benefit of working with our experienced team. 

You’ll be paid £600 a month for two months, with as much tea and coffee as you can drink.

Talented Pop Culture Editor Needed for Fast Growing Website


Pay: £22,000-£30,000, DoE 

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented pop culture-focused section editor to work with Scribol, one of the fastest-growing publishers on the web. 

The successful candidate will be required to oversee all aspects of Scribol’s pop culture- and pop lifestyle-related editorial production while potentially assisting with other topic areas, too. 

The role is Bristol-based. 

Skills, Attributes and Experience: 

• Highly organised and able to maintain a consistently high level of performance while coping with deadlines and ensuring tasks are completed in time 
• Excellent general communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to liaise with a range of employees, freelancers and new applicants 
• Ability to supervise writers and sub-editors, making sure feedback is shared when needed and quality standards are upheld 
• Ability to manage and prioritise editorial workflow, including forward planning, scheduling and ensuring staff have tasks sent to them in time 
• Astute knowledge of online publishing, with a particular flair for viral content and a keen sense of what inspires and delights readers and keeps them engaged 
• Strong creative approach, including the ability to spot compelling ideas, skilfully frame and title stories, and discuss, decide upon and provide direction on articles 
• Ability to draw up clear and stimulating briefs and use judgement and research skills to feed back to writers in order to shape articles to their best effect 
• Exceptional sub-editing skills, including thorough fact checking, creative copy editing and the ability to put information accurately into one’s own words 
• Excellent picture research skills, preferably with some knowledge of image editing tools, and an eye for what makes a great image 
• Ability to be involved in and ultimately manage the process of hiring new staff, including setting and marking tests and conducting remote and in-person interviews 
• Strong general grounding and experience in the areas of pop culture – especially celebrities but also movies and more – and pop lifestyle 
• Knowledge of WordPress and basic HTML 
• Familiarity with Excel/Google spreadsheets 
• Ideally NCTJ qualified – or with equivalent experience

• You’re a fast learner and respond well to constructive criticism. 
• You work well within a team.

Young Journalists Wanted x4 Rife Magazine, Watershed

Want a job making content for Rife magazine? Are you a filmmaker, blogger, writer or creative person? Want to write stories about the things that affect you? Want to show us Bristol through your eyes? In that case, read on…
We’re looking for FOUR young journalists to come and join our team at Rife Magazine. We offer 6-month paid internships where you create all the content - that’s blogs, articles, videos, photos - for Rife. In return, you get mentored by an experienced team of creatives.
As part of the programme you will receive on the job training in digital media, co-create Rife Magazine’s headline content and shape the Watershed Bristol Youth Links project. The programme will be a springboard giving you the confidence, networks and skills to develop your personal and professional future. No qualifications necessary: just good ideas, enthusiasm and a desire to develop your skills.
Only two of the posts are aimed specifically at people aged 18 - 24 who are currently unemployed and are claiming Job Seekers Allowance. They have been created as part of the Creative Employment Programme - an Arts Council England fund to support the creation of traineeships, formal apprenticeship and paid internship opportunities in England for unemployed young people wishing to pursue a career in the arts and cultural sector.
There are certain criteria you must meet in order to be eligible to apply for a Creative Employment Programme funded internship. At the time of applying you must be aged 18 to 24 and you must be registered as unemployed with Jobcentre Plus.
