Artist Commission - Productive Margins, Knowle West Media Centre

Budget: Up to £6,500 (including VAT and materials)

Productive Margins is a five year Connected Communities research programme that brings academics and communities together to explore new ways of engaging with regulation. 
Knowle West Media Centre (KWMC) is collaborating with three communities in Bristol to deliver a Productive Margins project, exploring access to food and the factors that influence people's food habits.
Productive Margins is currently looking for an artist or collective to work on an arts project exploring access to food in community settings in Bristol. Applications are invited from from artists and creative practitioners from a range of disciplines including visual arts, performance, installation, and public art. 
The project will run from May to July 2016 and the artist(s) will take part in a two-stage process: co-designing and co-facilitating workshops to investigate the spatial and neighbourhood regulation of access to food, then developing developing this into an artwork or series of works.

Arts Programme Producer - Knowle West Media Centre


Part Time: 22.5 hours a week (3 days) for one-year fixed term contract

Knowle West Media Centre are looking to recruit an Arts Programme Producer to support the delivery of their exciting and critically-engaged artistic programme.

Working closely with the Head of the Arts Programme, the Arts Producer will be central to coordinating the practical day-to-day delivery of our exhibitions, events and gallery-based or offsite activities.
The Producer should have enthusiasm for and an excellent knowledge of contemporary art practices, in all its forms. He/she needs to be an advocate for KWMC’s work and share our commitment to developing an innovative programme based on the principles of excellence, inclusion, diversity and community engagement.
Essential is a proven track record for coordinating exhibitions and events, working with artists of international standing as well as emergent talent. The postholder will be creative, practical and confident, able to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with artists, KWMC staff and volunteers, residents, partner organisations and stakeholders.

Volunteer Co-ordinator at Knowle West Media Centre

Volunteer Coordinator
22.2 hours (3 days a week), short term – 3 months
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and manage a team of volunteers for the pioneering Social Mirror project. You will achieve this by setting up and supporting a new community-based volunteer programme. Working closely with KWMC and the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) you will support volunteers to work within the Knowle West community to reach people at risk of social isolation.
You will have:
  • At least one year’s experience of volunteer management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of current legislation and models of best practice relevant to working with volunteers
  • An awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of volunteers
  • Experience of working within communities and/or regeneration areas
  • The ability to work on your own initiative and manage and prioritise your work load
  • Computer literacy and the ability to help others use technology (tablet computers)
  • The ability to develop new initiatives and to respond to the changing needs of our organisation and its volunteers.

Creative Technology Manager needed at Knowle West Media Centre

Bristol-based arts organisations Knowle West Media Centre is seeking an experienced person to oversee the smooth running of its technical systems and facilities.
The Creative Technology Manager will have overall responsibility for the organisation’s equipment and digital systems, and will require expert knowledge of Mac OS and Windows platforms, and experience in video, multimedia, and database and network management.
As well as overseeing the day-to-day running of a thriving digital media centre, the successful applicant will coordinate the delivery of live audio-visual events, develop the facilities that are offered to room hirers and clients in order to attract further custom, and supervise technical staff and trainees. 
The Creative Technology Manager will work with a range of stakeholders, including KWMC staff, artists, local residents, and other technicians, so good communication skills are essential. 
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of proven technical knowledge, organisational and management skills, and the ability to work with and instruct others with patience and enthusiasm.

Salary: Grade 2 – £25,257 - £27,324 per annum subject to experience.
