Make It Work - Unemployed? Free Creative Opportunity

Deadline: 27th September 2014
FREE Opportunity for those aged 18+ who are unemployed. (It does not affect  benefits by attending.)

MAKE IT Work is a creative training opportunity for people who have been long-term unemployed to learn new skills and gain practical knowledge about wellbeing. Ultimately, we will be supporting people to change their lives by building self-esteem and creating opportunities for meaningful employment.

MAKE IT Work is being piloted in September 2014, held within the training space at PAPER Artistic Development CIC in Broadmead, central Bristol.

The project aims to be based in a vibrant and inspiring workshop/retail space in the heart of Bristol, and will train and employ people to work alongside professional producers of high quality traditionally handcrafted goods within a positive working/learning environment. Resident crafts people will firstly include the collaboration of Upholsterers, Surface pattern designers, Screen Printers, and Carpenters. We can then introduce further realms of creative industry production as the Social Enterprise develops as a sustainable business.

The MAKE IT Work training program has been designed collaboratively with Wellbeing Workshop Facilitator, Ava Maginnis, to provide a safe, happy and empowering experience that is productive for all unemployed participants.

MAKE IT Work opens opportunities for people who need support in overcoming personal and professional barriers to employment; to build their confidence, gain new skills and work experience, whilst also promoting the environmentally supportive concept of ‘New Materialism’ and creating resilience within the local craft economy and wider communities.
