Volunteer Book Hive Keepers for interactive sculpture

Duties: This December Bristol's Central Library will host Book Hive, a large-scale interactive sculpture celebrating 400 years of public libraries in the city. It is funded by Arts Council England and being designed and developed by Bristol-based creative robotics experts Rusty Squid. The group have already developed a fully working prototype at their Spike Island workshops which has been amazing and amusing customers during testing at Easton's Junction 3 Library. In order to be ready for the December launch the library is now searching for volunteer Book Hive Keepers to help visitors engage with the artwork, record their reactions and help keep the installation looking its best. As well as the opportunity to be a part of this exciting and innovative project the volunteers will be able to gain experience of working in customer service and the arts, build a CV, meet new people and attend related events, activities and workshops.
Location: Central Bristol
Salary: Volunteer
Job Duration: The project runs from December 7, 2013 to March 7, 2014 and volunteer support will be required throughout that period.

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Monday 18 November, and volunteer briefing sessions will take place on Wednesday 20 November (2pm to 3pm) and Tuesday 26 November (6pm to 7pm).
