Jerwood Makers Open 2014 (5 x £7,500), deadline: 18 November

 

Applied artists in the first ten years of their career are invited to apply for the Jerwood Makers Open 2014.
The artists will be selected by an independent panel of cultural professionals, including Junko Mori, artist and metal worker; Claire Catterall, Director of Exhibitions and Learning at Courtauld Gallery; and Vicky Richardson, Director of Architecture, Design and Fashion at the British Council.
The judges will select five emerging applied artists to receive five £7,500 commissions for new work. The work created will then be exhibited as part of the Jerwood Visual Arts programme at Jerwood Space in London during the Summer of 2014.
The judges will debate what they consider to be the most outstanding and original practice in the applied arts, and will consider how this opportunity could catalyse potential positive developments to the individual’s practice and profile. The selectors will consider all eligible proposals, and from this will select a shortlist of makers who will be invited to be interviewed by the selectors.
Entry is by online application.  All applicants need to submit an online application, a current CV, a max. of 6 images and an entry fee of £20.
