Three Volunteer Opportunities at Bristol Museums and Art Galleries.

Puppet workshop (Talking Heads)
17th, 18th, 24th, 25th May and 7th, 8th June
9.30am - 3pm
The aim of these workshops is to introduce children, with little or no knowledge and understanding of art, to paintings in the permanent galleries and then deepen their engagement.  This will be done by focusing on a range of portraits, then discussing and creating ‘talking heads’ based on the people in them. There will be short performances where the characters ‘speak’ about themselves or interact with others from different portraits.
We are looking for volunteers who are confident and would be able to lead groups of children (accompanied by their teachers) around the galleries and help facilitate the workshops. You will be given time before the activities to plan which portraits you would like to work with and the staff leading the sessions will give you a full briefing of what you will need to do. You are welcome to help with as many or as few sessions as you like.
