Unit10 are looking to host multiple artists for 5 micro-residencies, running for 2 weeks up to 6 weeks in duration. The On Display programme will run from February till June, presenting exhibitions, workshops and events centered around the East St community. We are looking for creative and dynamic proposals to take over and explore our space.
Unit10 is an unused shop front in the heart of Bedminster; a diverse and dynamic area in South Bristol with very few visual arts programmes currently active. On Display looks to fill this void, whilst providing a free arts space to artists at all stages of their career.
Artists will be given free reign of the space, which has desk space, running water, large shop-front windows, a small etching press and a black-out room. Applicants will be free to propose any scale of project, but preference will be given to those who occupy the location in a creative way which attracts and invites the local community; experimental use of the shop window is highly encouraged. Workshops and open-days will intertwine with the residency programme, so we are looking for enthusiastic and open minded participants.
