For the launch of Frissonic, we are calling upon local creative talent to use their craft to create an installation that evokes ‘frisson’ in an audience.

Frissonic is a new series of theatrical events that aim to elicit a ‘music-evoked frisson’ in its audience. A core narrative will guide the audience through the experience as they explore interactive installations made by local creatives. As Frissonic tours, it will seek out the best emerging creative talent the UK has to offer and challenge them to use their craft to create ‘frisson’.

In 2016, the theme is Alchemy; therefore we are looking for four projects based on one of the four classical elements – earth, fire, air or water.  

About the Open Call for Proposals

Frissonic are inviting proposals from creatives from ALL DISCIPLINES wishing to be part of Frissonic I: Alchemy. We are looking for ideas that are extraordinary, interactive, transformative and most importantly, frisson-inducing. Applications can come from individuals, collectives or collaborations with multiple creatives at any stage of their career to create an interactive installation designed to give the participant frisson.

Each commissioned project will be given a space to transform into one of the four classical elements – earth, fire, air or water and provide a frisson-inducing experience for those within it.

The event will take place on two consecutive nights, 18/19 March 2016 in the basement space at The Island in Bristol.
Each space has the dimensions of 2.5m by 3m with Height of 3m, so they are suited to intimate installations for around 2-3 audience members at a time   in an as-yet undisclosed venue in Bristol. Frissonic will collaborate with local creatives to transform the disused venue into an immersive club night with a bar and interactive installation spaces that is experienced for one night only.

We will acknowledge the receipt of all applications. Shortlisted applicants will be notified by 21st December 2015 and invited to an interview. We regret we are not able to give individual feedback for unsuccessful applications.

Additional Information

• A panel comprising members of the Frissonic team alongside external invited artists and experts will conduct selection.

• Participating artists will be responsible for organising the installation, setup and de-install of his or her work or project

• If you have an idea which doesn’t include music, we can help with finding a way to incorporate a musical element

• Please apply with a budget to cover all costs and include your Artist Fee separately. We are able to consider budgets up to £500 per element. Each project will be discussed and a budget finalised after selection.
