Web Content Management Assistant - The Island (Volunteer Role)



10 hrs week max (2 x 5hr days)

The role of Marketing Assistant is a fantastic opportunity to communicate the excitement of new shows, artwork, and events curated, organised and hosted here at The Island to the wider world. The position would suit someone who is interested in the arts & events marketing and hoping to gain hands-on experience within a small but ambitious organisation.
We are looking for an artistic, creative individual to work with the Project Manager our events, conceiving innovative ways to reach and develop audiences. We will be launching our new website in the next weeks.
This is an exciting time to join the organisation as we are starting to programme 2015 art shows, events and exhibitions. 
A perfect opportunity for anyone wanting to develop their career in the contemporary arts marketing sector, within a supportive environment. 

We are looking for someone with a background in, and passion for, the arts and an enthusiasm for
our events that they are able to communicate to others.
Tasks can include: updating on a weekly basis our website content, attending events and art shows and take documentation (photography or film) and write up reviews, upload reviews on our website and social media pages, designing. Contant media and respond to media enquiries. We are looking for an artistic, creative individual who can manage our social media channels, create our e-newsletter and email monthly.

Skills required:

1. an enthusiasm for the work of the The Island and/or contemporary culture,

2. the ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as working within and contributing to a team,

3. excellent written and verbal communication skills, both with colleagues and with audiences, donors and participants, 
4. the ability to prioritise workload, be flexible and reliably complete tasks to tight deadlines

5. good copy writing skills and ability to adapt tone for posts across social media channels

6. wordpress content management experience

7. a working knowledge of digital tools such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and blogs, and an awareness of their strengths / weaknesses

8. artistic flair and an eye for design, film and photography

9. meticulous attention to detail
