Following a major new build, The Wilson Cheltenham is seeking an experienced and motivated Technical Officer to play a key role within the Art Gallery & Museum, delivering exhibitions and displays of national importance.
Supporting the exhibition and collection teams this role will be the main technical support for the Art Gallery and Museum. The will support curators and team leaders by creating displays for 2D, 3D and digital work; playing a vitally important role within the install and de-install of temporary exhibitions. The post holder will have practical experience of art handling, the installation of historic objects and knowledge of the conservation issues affecting them.

Main Areas of Job Description
Exhibitions, display and storage of collections
Work with the Collections & Engagement teams and Customer & Visitor Services teams to deliver exhibitions and displays on time. Complete regular maintenance checks of galleries and displays
Assist Art Gallery& Museum staff with tasks involving museum objects on display or in stores. To maintain the lighting in the galleries
To liaise with the Exhibitions Team Leader and Collections Team Leader, Security & Buildings Officer and the Preventative Conservator – in assisting with environmental controls
Use and maintain the Technical Workshop machinery and tools appropriately
To keep accurate records of all equipment and materials contained within the Technical Workshop
Support the Collections and Engagement teams and Visitor Services teams with Audio Visual equipment and display.
Provide a general maintenance and repair service (e.g. undertake simple building repairs, putting up shelves, mending items, painting, checking lighting etc).
