Intern (Paid, 6 month fixed-term contract)
Based in our Somerset gallery we are looking for an enthusiastic, pro-active, organised and personable individual to join us as an Intern.
Set to open in July 2014, Hauser & Wirth Somerset is a pioneering world-class gallery and multi-purpose arts centre, which acts as a destination for experiencing art, architecture and the remarkable Somerset landscape through new and innovative exhibitions of contemporary art, as well as offering locally-sourced produce in an on-site restaurant run by At The Chapel, an award-winning restaurant based in Bruton. The gallery exhibition programme offers an extensive variety of events and learning opportunities inspired by the exhibitions, countryside and the local community, and is accompanied by an active artists’ residency programme. The centre also provides resources including a library and bookshop, and a landscaped meadow designed by Piet Oudolf.
An internship at Hauser & Wirth Somerset is a full-time position undertaken for a period of six months.
Tasks will include, but not be limited to:
• Supporting the Front of House with general gallery duties, mail outs, archiving, post, and private views.
• Greeting and providing information to visitors about current exhibitions, events, the history of Durslade Farm, the architecture, the garden and all aspects of the gallery.
• Supervising the gallery and public spaces, ensuring they are presented to the highest standards at all times.
• Assisting with the development, installation and delivery of exhibitions and events.
• Assisting with research.

Requirements:
• A graduate of either a BA or MA in Fine Art, Art History or a related subject, or equivalent experience.
• A keen interest in all aspects of gallery work, such as administration, press, education, development of exhibitions and events.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Organised with an ability to prioritise
• Computer literate
• Candidate should be meticulous with attention to detail
• Proactive attitude
