Duties: We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated students who will work with us to create an exciting new project, to benefit older people in the local community, through organising a weekly art class. Volunteer to become a Project leader with UWE Volunteering! We need you to arrange a fun art based activity for older people, bringing together people who are interested in art and meeting other members of their community.
UWE Volunteering is partnering up with Linkage to offer this art class. LinkAge is a charity that helps over 55’s try new activities, learn new skills, meet new people, and have a say in their local community. There is currently no art class provision in this community! You can help resurrect this art group and provide this much needed social activity.
You can help individuals:
• develop their confidence and self-esteem
• increase their access to social and leisure activities, reducing isolation
• increase their interaction with people outside the family unit
• gain access to social activities and be part of a supportive social group
• develop their social skills and coping mechanisms

Skills and Experience: You don’t need to be Picasso, just have a passion for art and a willingness to inspire others to develop their creative talents. You must be consistent, reliable, dependable and have good communication and interpersonal skills.
Location: Henbury Centre, Manchin Road. UWE Volunteering will reimburse any travel expenses.

Hours: Tuesday morning, 10:00 - 12 Noon for 8 weeks. Aiming to start 28 January 2014.
